Eclipse Glasses Recycling

Earth Day: Eclipse Glasses Sorting Event!

Make a difference on Earth Day! Join us at the Imagination Station from 1PM to 4PM on Monday April 22nd as we sort through eclipse glasses and prepare them for either reuse or recycling. Glasses that can be reused will be sent to Astronomers Without Borders so that others can enjoy eclipse events across the world. Glasses that cannot be reused will be recycled locally.

Eclipse Glasses Recycling

Toledo will be in the path of a solar eclipse on April 8th! Whether you’re watching from your backyard or at a viewing party, solar glasses are a necessity to safely view this astronomical event.

After the moon has passed over the sun on April 8th, do the earth a favor by recycling your eclipse glasses. Thanks to our partnership with Astronomers Without Borders, all glasses that are in good condition will be recycled for use in other countries to safely view eclipse events.

Eclipse glasses recycling boxes will be placed at your local Toledo/Lucas County Library or at the Imagination Station. You can drop off your glasses until April 17th.
