Plant Trees for a Better World
Planting trees reduces urban heat and flooding, all while improving air quality in our community. That's why we are dedicated to planting trees, especially native trees, in Toledo and Lucas County!

Tree Planting Projects
2025 ~ Junction's Community Garden
In partnership with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and their commitment to our community's environmental wellbeing, we planted 5 trees in Junction's Blum Street Garden. Trees planted include a variety of fruit trees that include apple, plum, and peach trees.
This planting was made possible by Alpha Kappa Alpha's Zeta Alpha Omega chapter and the Junction Coalition.
2024 ~ St Catherine of Siena
In October of 2024, we planted 9 tres at St Catherine of Siena Catholic Church in North Toledo. Native trees planted include 3 swamp white oak, 3 serviceberry, and 3 black gum trees.
This planting was completed in partnership with Sacred Grounds Toledo.
2024 ~ Salem Lutheran Church
In October of 2024, we planted 12 trees at Salem Lutheran Church in North Toledo. Native trees planted include 3 pawpaws, 4 black gum, 3 serviceberry, and 2 tulip trees.
This planting was completed in partnership with Sacred Grounds Toledo.
2024 ~ Ironwood Community Garden
In partnership with Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority and their commitment to environmental wellbeing, we planted 4 fruit trees in the the Ironwood Community Garden.
Trees planted include 2 apple trees, 1 plum tree, and 1 peach tree. Along with the numerous environmental benefits of trees, a single apple tree can provide up to 15 to 20 bushels of fruit per year.
This planting was made possible by Alpha Kappa Alpha's Zeta Alpha Omega chapter and the Ironwood Community.
2022 ~ Church of the Cross
In 2022, we planted 14 native trees at South Toledo's Church of the Cross. Trees included native forms of hazelnuts and swamp white oaks.
Along with partnering with the Church of the Cross, we also worked with Sacred Grounds Toledo and the City of Toledo to complete this tree planting.
2021 ~ Villamar Park
In 2021, we planted 30 trees and native grasses in North Toledo’s Villamar Park. Villamar Park is located in Washington Township, right on a tributary leading to Lake Erie. Along with partnering with the Washington Township Board of Trustees, we also worked with Lucas Soil and Water Conservation District to plan the project.
These trees and grasses not only beautifying the area, they will help improve water quality, reduce soil erosion, and decrease pollution in our environment.
