Event Recycling, Composting, and Waste Reduction
Trash & Recycling Box Request
Trash boxes are offered to the community for large and small events, including festivals, school & sporting events, fundraisers, family reunions, graduation parties, community celebrations, and more. Trash boxes can be transformed into recycling boxes by adding a lid.
Box requests do not come with liners. Boxes and lids are offered to the community free of charge. 30-gallon trash bags fit the boxes but are not provided. To request boxes and lids, simply fill out the request form below.
Event Recycling, Composting, and Zero Waste Services
An average of 2.5 pounds of waste is created per person at events. Whether your event will bring in 50 or 100,000, make sure your event is sustainable and that the waste created goes to the right place!
Keep Toledo/Lucas County Beautiful is here to help, offering recycling services, composting, and waste reduction consultation.
We will help your event move towards "Zero Waste" by:
- Consulting with event organizers to help them incorporate zero waste products and practices.
- Managing logistics for events such as arranging waste haulers, securing bins, working with vendors, and more.
- Training and managing volunteers.
- Attending planning meetings leading up to the event and debrief meetings afterwards.
- Providing equipment.
- Attending the event and managing all zero waste aspects.
- Including education at the event.
- Managing litter during event.
Zero Waste Reusable Dishware Checkout
Organizations and individuals wishing to reduce their waste at events/parties can rent our reusable plates, bowls, cups, and cutlery!
Keep Toledo/Lucas County Beautiful has 2 sets of dishware (50 cups, bowls, plates, forks, knives, and spoons each). To ensure that this program remains available, please make sure that all items borrowed are returned on time, clean, sanitized, and in good condition.
All individuals and organizations are required to pay an initial payment of $25 per set of reusable dishware. Upon return and inspection, $20 will be refunded. This is to ensure that all materials are returned in the same condition and amount.
Payments are cash or check only on the day of pickup.
All items borrowed need to be cleaned and sanitized before being returned. Run all dishware items through a dishwasher or clean and sanitize items by hand; use hot water and dish soap, rinse in hot water, sanitize, and allow to air dry.
