Beautification & Tree Plantings
Let's Plant Trees in Point Place!
In June of 2023, Point Place experienced multiple tornados. Along with structural damage, these tornados had an ecological impact, causing multiple trees to fall down in the Point Place neighborhood.
Keep Toledo/Lucas County Beautiful received a grant to replant trees in the Point Place region that came down from the tornados.
These trees are for private property - residents are welcome to request a tree for their property! Those that would like a tree can select between a variety of options.
Trees Build Community
- Air Quality: A single mature tree can absorb up to 48 pounds of carbon dioxide per year and filter pollutants like ozone, nitrogen dioxide, and sulfur dioxide.
- Cooler Neighborhoods: Neighborhoods with more tree cover can be up to 10°F cooler than areas without trees
- Stormwater Management: A single tree can store over 100 gallons of water
- Property Value: Neighborhoods with trees can see property values increase by 7% to 20%.
