The Ohio Revised Code authorizes the citizens of Ohio to obtain their motor vehicle and watercraft titles at any Clerk of Courts Title Office. The Lucas County Clerk of Courts maintains all motor vehicle and watercraft titles issued in Lucas County. In addition to the issuance of titles, the title division is responsible for recording all liens against motor vehicle and watercraft title records as well as collecting fees and sales tax on purchases of motor vehicles and watercraft.
No small task, the primary challenge is one of record management. The title division processes more than 200,000 title transactions yearly. Further, because the Clerk is required to maintain these records for 7 years the Clerk of Courts currently has an archive of more than million files.
We have four (4) conveniently located offices in Lucas County. For the office nearest you, or answers regarding questions regarding title work, contact one of the offices listed above. Click on Directions and enter your address and the address of the title agency you wish to visit.
Additionally, all of our Automobile and Watercraft Title Agencies serve as One-Stop Passport Centers. Residents of Northwest Ohio and Southeast Michigan can process all necessary paperwork including their photograph in one convenient location. The application process is quick, and applicants will receive their passport in approximately 6-8 weeks.
Important Milestones regarding Passports

January 23, 2007 – Citizens traveling by air between the United States and
Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda will be
required to present a valid U.S. passport.

No later than June 1, 2009, or possibly sooner, citizens traveling between the
U.S. and Canada, Mexico, Central and South America, the Caribbean, and Bermuda
by land or sea (including ferries), may be required to present a valid U.S.
passport or other documents as determined by the Department of Homeland
Security.

January 1, 2008 – Passport, Merchant Mariner Document (MMD), or NEXUS air cards
required for all air, sea and land border crossings.
